My weekend trip to Milwaukee/Chicago

Hi all! I haven't written yet about my trip to see Chris and Malinda! I got up early Friday AM and hopped the megabus to Milwaukee. I arrived around 1pm where Steve picked me up from the bus stop. We went right to the bus stop to Chris and Malindas place. Malinda was going to be released that day, and we needed to be home to have a shower chair delivered. Steve and I hung out there for a while, and round 5pm Malinda arrived! It was the first time I have seen her since the accident. For getting hit by a truck 6 days ago, she looked pretty good! She used a walker to get from the car to the house. She can't flatten one of her feet as her muscle is hard from being hit (and bruised like you wouldn't believe!) I can't imagine, it would be like haveing a constant cramp in your leg!! I visited with her for a couple hours. Mary and Mike came to pick me and Steve up from Malinda and then head out to see Chris at the hospital. Chris had surgery a day or two before I got out there. He has a bar that is holding a pin in place thru his pelvis. This bar is on the outside of his body! it will stay there until his pelvis bones grow around the pin. He is going to be in a wheel chair for i think they said 4 to 6 months. He seemed to be in good spirits when we were there, making jokes... telling mike about his PT who is Asain (mike loves the asain girls!) I could tell he was in a lot of pain... I am happy to report that he arrived home last night!! Malinda and Chris are now hanging out in their living room on twin beds! I talked with Malinda today and she was joking saying it looks like an 80 year old couples bedroom... Twin beds, a walker and wheel chair!! It makes me so happy that they are joking around and everything! (if you want to read an article about the whole thing copy and paste this link into your browser http://gazettextra.com/news/2008/jul/16/couple-remains-hospitalized-after-getting-hit-drun/ you can even see a picture of the fool who did this to my friends.)
After visiting Chris we headed down to Whitewater for the night. It was pretty much the most low key night i have ever spent in WW!! We stayed in, watched a movie... and I was in bed i think at 1030!! Saturday Mary, Steve and I headed down to Chicago for the American Idol concert. This was a trip that Malinda and Chris were supposed to go on, but in their condition obviously weren't able to go. Malinda was able to talk her brother Steve into going in her place, and Mary's nephew Shane also joined us. We got to our hotel around 3 (as the bank across the street was being robbed!!) We checked in and started drinking some beer! around 620 we walked to the Allstate Arena which was about a 10 minute walk. The concert was great! they counted backwards from 10 to 1, Eze going first, my david cook last! We watched everyone up to Kristy Lee Cook, when we went out for a beer... thats right, a boycott to Kristi! we stayed out there until she got off the stage :) i loved michael john, he did awesome... hes gonna be a big star. it was like being at a rock concert... also, jason, my sweet dread-locked jason... he started out singing 'over the rainbow' with his little uklele! so stinkin cute with these bright red shoes on :) I was very happy when David A came out singing "apologize" by OneRepublic. At the time I thought he did awesome... when i looked back at the video i took... it was not as awesome as i was remembering.. i think it was the beer :) and finally my David Cook came out... he sang a bunch of songs.. he also was amazing! He started with "hello" and he sang all sorts of songs... "hero" and his single "time of my life" and "dont want to close my eyes" and "billie jean" he probably did one or two songs, but these are the ones I remember. he looked cute up there with his guitars playing away. i can't wait till this boy puts out his record and goes out on tour without the other 9. okay he can bring Michael and Jason with... but the other 7 can stay home :).

with everything going on with Chris and Malinda... there are a few of us putting together a benefit for them. I will be updating everyone with this info as it becomes available. I may be asking you creative people to donate some of your work to be auctioned off at the benefit!!! :) please let me know if you are interested in helping out!!
