(haven't written in a few days, so i have a few things to talk about, so here come a bunch o posts!)
So, for the first time in my life, i got to see the new kids on the block live and in person!! Growing up i was a big fan of NKOTB (dont know a girl my age that wasn't...) Anyway, i would have done anything to see these boys in person at a concert. Mom was not having any of it... she was SURE I would be trampled.... so rather than seeing NKOTB as my first concert I saw Boys II Men in 10th grade... anyway, back to the subject at hand... I got an email from Miss Mindy telling me that NKOTB would be at the MOA Friday and she wanted to know if I wanted to go... Now, some crazy people got their butts up and lined up at 4am outside of the new Best Buy at the MOA... Neither Mindy nor I would be found in that line!! some people even showed up 2 days prior!! These people pre-purchased the New Kids new album (out Sept 2nd)... the first 500 people also got a pass to meet and get autographs from the band. Mindy and I however showed up at 3 in the afternoon, 2 and a half hours before the performance. then we decided it was time to eat.... we had a sub from a place called Charlies... i think thats what it was called... anyway we both had a chicken cordon blu sammich. soooo good. we headed back to the rotunda, and there was still an hour and a half before the show... So we went looking for a drink... a new place opened up on the 4th floor... i dont recall the name, but it was a mexican type restraunt that has a name that looks like the brand carona..... anyway, we were in that bar for about 2 hours doing some drinking to deal with the crowd!!
we found a spot on the 4th floor (right near that bar, just in case)... and sat down.. found out the new kids were about an hour behind... so we sat there for quite some time. We started checking out the fans that were in the line to meet the boys and noticed that the average weight for a NKOTB fan could be 300 plus!!! There were some BIG girls in the line... anyways...round 615 the boys finally got up on stage... they sang summertime (which i am pretty sure we heard about 65 times as it was on 'loop' in the rotunda from the minute we got there)... then they thanked everyone for coming out, sang an old song "tonight" and then they sang their new song "single" they thanked everyone for coming out again and headed off stage...only to come back out to sign autographs... mindy and I hightailed it out of there when they were done singing though, didn't want to get stuck in any post NKOTB traffic!!
I have a new found appreciation for Donnie Wahlberg!! Growing up Jordan was my fave, and i think i had a little thing for Joey, and the rest of the boys were just creepy to me!! But after seeing them in person, Donnie is oozing sexiness!! got me excited for the girls trip in October :) Look out Chicago, here we come!!
