I woke up today knowing that I was going to be a part of history. What a great day to be an American! I got to my polling place at about 5 min after 7. There was already a line, but nothing as bad as I was expecting. I stood in the first line outside of the gym, when a lady came out asking for people with the last name that starts with F thru K. that's me! So happy I haven't been married to any other part of the alphabet!! I only had 2 people in front of me to sign in! YEAY! after signing in, they pointed where we get our ballots.. this was the longest line there was... I thought I got to the end of it, turned around and said, oh you are in line too hauh? he was like yeah.. the line was snaking around so far it was hart to find the end of it. After getting my ballot and secrecy folder i moved over to the line to get a voting booth. while I was in this line I looked around at all the people standing in line, different ages, races... i got the chills just thinking what we were all a part of! I had my ipod on and right before stepping up to my voting booth, David Cook came on! I got to cast my vote with david singing to me. how poetic, the man i voted for to win American idol is now with me as I vote for my next president! I think its a foreshadow of what's to come... the guy I voted for to win idol, won. I am hoping the same guy I voted for today will win!
if you haven't, GO OUT AND VOTE!
I have voted in the past, but never took it as seriously as I have this time around. We really do need change, to get this country back in shape!! I was really annoyed when I found a photo someone had uploaded to a website.. She did an absentee vote, and wrote in David Cook/Jason Castro. As much as I love me some david and jason, HOW REDONK ARE YOU TO THROW AWAY YOUR VOTE FOR PRES ON THAT?!?! If you really want to vote for them, vote for them as a judge or some other crappy thing. This is the most important election of ALL TIME PEOPLE, lets be a little smart about this.
Another thing that I witnessed that didn't bug me, but made me think... As I was walking into the school to cast my vote I was walking behind a dad and his daughter, who must have just turned 18, it was for sure her first time she voted. As we walked, he said "do you realize what you are going to be a part of today" she was like "Yeah" hes like "this is the most important election of all time" she replies "yeah i don't really care, there are more important things!" This half way surprised me, half way didn't phase me at all. I remember when I was 18, i had the same bland feelings about the election. To let you know, my first election I voted at, I voted for Jesse Ventura thinking he will never get in (HA! along with the rest of the state who thought the same thing..) Anyway, With the state of the country, and world, I have become more involved in whats going on with the election and I was happy, proud and excited to vote for my next president. I hope you do the same!
