I don't know how I am so gung ho sometimes about blogging, and sometimes i am just like "eh"
Today, I'm ready.
First things first. Yesterday I thought since I quit the gym, it would be a good idea to get some cardio in. I have had these Rollerblades for years, and never use them. they SERIOUSLY have been on the pavement like 5 times. and not at all in the last 5 o r 6 years.
I used to go on walks, until i heard of people being beaten and raped in my area. then I stopped! Anyway, what i remembered of my walking route, there was not many hills, what i remembered was big up hills, no really big down hill so I thought what the heck.
It was and interesting ride to the park... no falling, but using grass to slow down, and trying out the break thats on the heel. I am awesome at ice skating, so i dont quite understand how I can't get the concept of rollerblading. i just can't bet my brain to figure out I don't have a toe pick!
when I'm going slow i can think about what I'm doing and to use my heel.. but when I'm speeding along I'm just trying not to die.
anyway, right when i got into the park area where they have Frisbee golf, there are lots of trees. I get on that path and the first thing that i run into is a woman and her freaking dog that she can't control. this is not good when I'm having problems controlling myself! the dog came running at me on his leash that his owner let open all the way, rather than keeping it locked on a short leash.. i end up in the grass trying not to trip over this freakshow of a dog, and end up falling on my @$$. she apologized and asked if i was okay, i said I'm fine. got up and continued on. there were a couple rough spots along the way as stuff was all over the path, which isn't good for a newbie Rollerblader. i got thru the Frisbee golf area with no broken bones. YEAY
the path in the park where there is a couple baseball diamonds and a couple soccer fields was relatively flat... i noticed as after i passed the baseball diamonds and i was on my way between the soccer fields that the path was indeed on a downward slope. it was barely a slope, but a long slope indeed. i made it fine thru the soccer area (with millions of people around, so thank god i didn't fall then!!). The path then goes back into the woods where the beginning of the Frisbee golf course is. this is where the path starts winding again and has a steeper slope... i had to have been going about 10 mph when i saw branches all over the path, no way i'd make it over these without falling on my face and breaking every bone in my body.. i grabbed a branch trying to slow.. didn't help. ended up back on the grass, since i was going so fast when i got on the grass i was running, running faster than I've ever ran and with roller blades on. thank the lord above i came to a stop with out injury (other than to my pride!!) a guy was walking the path in the opposite direction and he said "that would have hurt!" i said "i probably would have died"
needless to say, i wont be getting back into those effin things ever again. ever.
