26 more days...

I have to keep repeating this over and over... I wake up to 4 inches of snow, and more to come... Just 26 more days till SPRING TRAINING games start! YEAAAY!  TwinsFest was this weekend... and I didn't have tickets.. I did a few things to keep my mind off the fact that I wasn't going to be hanging out with my favorite boys of summer.
If it weren't for Aaron, I'd have been cooped up in my apartment working on quilts all weekend... BUT, Aaron invited me to a Gopher hockey game Friday night... So after work I headed to downtown Minneapolis to meet up with him and head into the U of M.  We met up with a couple of his buddies, one of which I met 10 years ago when I dated Aaron's bro. Went to Sally's (which I haven't been to in like 4 years)... I can tell I'm getting old because I kept thinking "dang they are playing their music loud!"  We ate, drank and chatted it up before the game. Then headed over to the arena where we watched the Gophers body slam the Alaska Seawolves 5-1.
Since we didn't want to sit in after game traffic, we decided it was time to go back to Sally's (this time the loud music didn't bother me, maybe b/c we were there as "its time to drink" rather than "its time to eat dinner").  Anyway one of the guys went home, the other stayed with Aaron and me.  About 20 min into our drinks, I noticed the guy we were with had a zipper that wasn't zipped. Now, had it been the guy I knew going back 10 years, I'd have said something.... But being the guy who I just met...I couldn't do it. I couldn't tell him his zipper was down. But I also couldn't help but keep looking at it....maybe hoping he'd figure it out??? I don't know... I was stuck in a drunken conundrum... Never did say anything to him, and thankfully we sat down not much long after I figured it out...I could no longer see the zipper in question, and soon forgot about it.
Saturday I spent the day quilting up a storm... I had to keep my mind off of the fact that I wasn't at TwinsFest...and what a way to do it... I started quilting at 2, and didn't quit until 10:30... I didn't even eat in that time. I had the quilt almost finished by that time... Just had to sew the strips of fabric together and I'd have my quilt top.  But I had to quit as I was meeting up with Aaron again on Sunday morning for brunch.
It was a delicious brunch at Bar Abaline.  And bottomless mimosas to boot!  I always have fun hanging out with Aaron, he's totally different than most of my other friends (other than his bro, they are two very similar people). It's always interesting to hear his view of me, and our friends.  He's very observant, and not in the "she's got purple socks on" kind of way, but the psychological kind of way.
After a few mimosas, headed back home in hopes of finishing up that baby quilt I was so close to finishing... I did it! woohoo!!  It's always so gratifying to see the finished product!  It's for my co-worker Sarah who just had a baby on Friday... Nothing like waiting till the last minute... But it sure says one thing about me...Works well under pressure!!
Anyhow, hope you all had a nice weekend. I've got another exciting one planned for next weekend... Going to be working on the other baby quilt for another friend... Plus, going to do some ceramics on Saturday with Shelly... oh, and going to a party on Sunday. Something about a football game??!!??? IDK, but I'm counting down the days to spring training...

okay...i guess

so i complained on my FB page today that i've read all there is to read on the blogs i follow, and requested people tell me their blog addys so i can start following some new blogs.
this prompted my sister to complain that i've not done a post in a while too...so i shouldn't complain. so here i am without a topic, and writing on my blog.
oh, and i've found a new blog that i love. Red Pen Inc. you should check it out. she finds funny grammar, spelling and other typos of such all over and shares them. it's quite comical.  she's a baseball fan, and the twins are one of her fave teams, so that makes it even more fun to read! now i'm afraid she'll come and find something on my blog to post :)  i'm not one for capitalizing things. i do sometimes. sometimes i don't.  and i've never been one with the best spelling...so i'll just cross my fingers that i don't see any of my posts on her blog!!
i'm looking forward to another game at Target Field (see i do capitalize the important things) this saturday.  it's the final game of the regular season that i've got tickets for.  there is a possibility that i still may see additional games this year, but i don't want to jinx anything, so i'll move on.
speaking of my favorite baseball team, i'm happy they've finally won after five horrid losses.  and seriously? to the indians and royals??? seriously???
anyway, monday i went over to the Twins Pro Shop to pick up some homer hankies... i've got every intention to have a Twins quilt by the time the snow starts to fly.  i was totally expecting them to tell me i could only buy two at a time.... but, the limit was 25!  didn't need that many, but went with ten.  eight for my quilt, one for dan, and one for his buddy brandon.  to my surprise when i got home and counted them, they gave me 11.  so i'll have an extra for myself that's not sewn into my quilt.  i've got the material and made my own design for the quilt... wish me luck, it's the first time i've made a quilt with no pattern.
as i said, i've really got nothing to write about at the moment...but stef made me. :)

big weekend

whats up yall. big ol weekend.. i was having fun with my new urban decay makeup on friday night... took some photos after using the 'smokey eye' technique... then fun with photoshop! check it out!
saturday we had a memorial for my great auntie muggs. it was a nice memorial for her. after we all had lunch at the church. brooke and haley get a kick out of each other!! brooke points and says "baby" haley looks at brooke and giggles. its so stinking cute. i can't wait for haley to get on her feet so she can run around with brooke! they are soo cute together, check it out!
after the memorial we headed back to mom and dads to get ready for nikkis bachelorette party. what an afternoon! stef did a great job with the crimping of my hair, love it!
we went to dinner in minneapolis at a place called broders or something like this... it was italian and very delsih. i had lasagna with spicy tomato and crab, it was soooo YUM! after we went over to oakdale to play games, drink wine and eat chocolate. i brought cheese as chocolate isn't my thing.. anyway here is nikki with one of her gifts
woke up today with a goal... finish my 3 quilts.... i got 2/3 the way there... i finished up the quilt for cassies little boy dominic. i think it turned out great. i really like the binding... this lady who worked at hancock fabrics was really thinking it was too dark, but i am sooo happy with my decision... i love the dark binding.. it brings out the stars and the airplanes.. i love it.
after finishing dominics, started up on jenny's baby boy's blanket. I LOVE this one. the material is so freaking cute i can hardly handle it. i messed up 2 times while cutting fabric... and i am thrilled that i messed it up, because the fabric i ran into when i was trying to replace the others.. was awesome!! its the one with the jungle animals with the big print... i decided to use that instead of the original stuff which i ended up using in the middle. still with the jungle animals, but its just their heads, smaller amongst the foliage.
anyway, again, people questioned the dark border, but i LOVE it. now, i just have to finish my 9 patch one for myself :) glad i got both baby ones done today, specially since i know now that baby boy foster was born today... can't wait to meet him!!

swimmin

so, i have started getting myself back into a swimming routine... Last thursday i swam 10 laps... then didn't do it again till tuesday, when i decided to push myself to 15 laps... and i did it again last night, another 15 laps. it feels soooo good. and i have noticed after swimming, i am not as hungry as i usually am at night. funny, you would think it would create an appetite. anyway, hopefully i can stick with it, and they wont close the pool up so i can start making this a habit again :)
i was surprised at idol last night... i couldn't believe they didn't save alexis!!!!! i for sure thought shed make it far... i guess thats why people shouldn't assume your fave is safe. i didn't vote for danny this week, but voted for Kris instead. he did an amazing job! Megan drives me CRAAAZY... i am hoping she goes.. as pretty as she is.... her voice is annoying. i am sure she could sing normally, but that weird shit she does, sounds like shes gargling or something. drives me crazy. and then that CAW CAW thing she did after singing rockin robin. wtf was THAT?!
anyhow... this weekend i will be working on my quilt some more... also helping jen... she is having me paint some flowers on the wall of ava's bedroom. Hopefully that wont take all that long, i hope to finish all the 9 patches this weekend.. i am 5 away from being half way done.. so hopefully i can knock out 65 more patches... then i can start sewing them together! :) i want this done before cabin season... cuz i will be going up there all the time then!

move over martha stuart!

Okay so I have had this in the works for what seems like forever...
but after further review I started it sometime early 2006... so just three years... and i could have got it done a lot quicker if i would have stuck with it.... So last week i called my aunt patti, who helped me pick out the materials all those years ago... I asked if she'd help me (again) in putting on the binding. thankfully she agreed... So Saturday, french silk pie in hand, I went to her place and the quilt was completed... okay so patti did all the work.. but she showed me how to do it. here it is!
After my Aunt said she'd help me finish that, I got all excited and decided to buy some material for a quilt to make for miss haley ann... i got it all cut up, and sewn together on saturday.. I wish i had had the batting too... i would have finished it yesterday.. .instead i finished it up today..here it is..
After leaving my aunts house last night, i went over to joann to get fabric for my third quilt... i am just so excited. i LOVE blankets... the purple one goes with my bedroom stuff, so the material for this quilt is to match my living room... here is the fabric...and actually i picked up 4 more pieces of fabric since i took this photo... i can't wait to get this one going :) yeaaay! i washed it this morning... soon i will be ironing it... then i have to do the math to figure out how big to cut the pieces since i am making this a different size than the book gives directions for!!
